We put on several amazing service events with local groups this summer! Elementary swimmers from Wild Timber's Team Extreme made two crafts and packed them in chemotherapy care bags for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's Aflac Cancer Center.
The Edinburgh Marlins Swim Team made some adorable items as well and assembled 4th of July goodie bags for residents of a local assisted living facility.

We also worked with a group from Path United, an organization that serves kids in mobile home communities, to decorate blank journals. The kids got to decorate two - one to keep and one to include in chemo care kits they then packed.

We're so proud of these kids for using part of their summer break to give back to others!
Over fifty volunteers came together one Saturday morning to build beds for Sleep in Heavenly Peace, an organization that believes every child deserves a safe, comfortable place to lay their head at night. Thanks to the generosity and hard work of the group, we were able to build 25 new beds for kids right here in Gwinnett County!
Community Service Event:
Chick-fil-A Give Back Night
We recently partnered with Chick-fil-A Moore Road to put on a Give Back night for the community. Kids got to complete a "Make One and Take One" craft....they decorated blank journals to include in chemotherapy care kits for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's Aflac Cancer Center and one to keep for themselves as a gratitude journal.
We also gave out free bookmarks with writing prompts to help the kids get started in their own journals. The prompts encouraged them to write out 3 things they were thankful for, 2 ways they had helped others lately, and 1 thing they were currently learning.

Third graders at Riverside Elementary put together 150 care bags with handmade crafts and goodies.

Then, after learning about three different recipient groups, the students got to choose whether their bag went to a patient receiving chemotherapy, a resident of Annandale Village, or a patient in assisted living.

The kids did a fabulous job of taking such care and being so creative in their work! We loved hearing their connection with the different groups and the stories behind where they chose to send their care bag.
Over sixty volunteers worked together to make 1,270 sandwiches for The Sandwich Project, a nonprofit organization that works to meet the food scarcity needs in Metro Atlanta.
Families donned costumes and met at Charter Senior Living of Buford to visit with the residents, give out treats, and play games.
We joined forces with Path United to put on a Back to School Bash in their Peachtree Village neighborhood. Path United's mission is to inspire kids growing up in mobile home communities on their path to becoming flourishing adults.
Fourth and fifth graders at Level Creek Elementary met after school once a week this spring for The Compassion in Action Club. We heard from a variety of guest speakers from local organizations and then completed a hands-on project to give back to the community. At the last session, we put on a party to celebrate the kids' hard work!

This semester, the students made appreciation gifts for Student Resource Officers, learned all about philanthropy from Kids Boost, tied fleece blankets for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta patients, made doggie treats for Humane Society of Northeast Georgia, and crafted puzzle piece picture frames for Brightside Café employees. They also decorated journals for chemotherapy care kits and made goodie bags for school staff.

We heard from a variety of guest speakers from local organizations and then completed a hands-on project to give back to the community.
